Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

I recently got to visit the gorgeous, elegant Hindu temple again. It's that wonderful not to show visitors, especially those into Bollywood. We wanted to wear sarees, start striking a pose, and take pictures. I've been going since it first opened in 2007. I got...More

Such a cool experience. I do recommend the audio tour. Very cool to get a taste of the culture and the architecture was breath taking. I also recommend the snack shop! Good food for a whole lunch!

Visited BAPS temple on multiple occasions while in Atlanta on recommendation from family. This is a really pretty and nicely kept temple - even if you are less religious, just the sheer architecture and scale of the temple is amazing. The best time to go...More

Dress code is strict as you might expect. I wore a sweater for the inside, over my sleeveless top, and Capris that came down past my knee. I had to take off my sandals inside, so I wish I had worn stockings!! The marble is... More

Yes, entrance is free. There is an audio tour available in the gift shop for $5, and we made a contribution at the service that we attended, but neither was required.
