Magical Gallery Nestled Among Trees
Sep. 2020 • Friends
Spent 3 hours in the warm fall sunshine wandering through this gallery filled with exquisite Shona sculptures from Zimbabwe. It’s a magical experience at any time of year but with soft golden leaves softly falling and Zimbabwe music floating through the trees it was Magical.

Curator Fran Fearnley founded the gallery over 20 years ago and personally travelled to Zimbabwe to hand-pick over 250 sculptures on display. Sculptures of all sizes are available and affordable and all one of a kind.

So cool to drive in with all the statues - and the work they do there is amazing! Contemplating taking a class or two next year to learn the craft!

Worth the visit
Jul. 2020 • Couples
loved this place. The stone sculptures are scattered around the property and each one is amazing. The place has a very tranquil feel to it. You feel a million miles away from everything but its only a 20 min drive from Peterborough.
It's free to walk around, there is a donation box. They sell the art works there and you can take classes in stone sculpting.

Inspiring, peaceful and highly spiritual
Jul. 2019 • Friends
As an African-American, this was an important visit for me. The ability to see art such as this within the context of the beauty of Bailieboro was sheer perfection. Each piece of art serves an emotional purpose and is for sale. The proceeds support an organization called ZimKids.ca which supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe. To describe this place is one thing, to experience it is another. The cost is by donation and given their mission you can't do enough to support this haven. You have to see and feel this place. As the artists say: They ask the stone what it is. Seeing what they do with the stone and the tools they use is a miracle.

Hi Franklin, Thank you for your wonderful review. I just want to clarify that ZimArt is a business so most sculpture sales go to the business. But we also support ZimKids through "selected" sculpture and craft sales. I don't know if you would like to rewrite your review based on this information?

Beautiful sculpture in nature - come touch the art and talk with artist in residence
Jul. 2019 • Friends
Visiting Ontario and my sister found this place for more than 5 years, and wanted to share
Today I found out why she comes back again and again
The sculptures are situated in a park like setting
They are all based on Shona Sculpture tradition from Zimbabwe
And you get to meet the current artist in residence
Awesome experience - I love being able to touch beautiful art

A quick trip to Africa
Aug. 2018
Hidden away at the end of a small farm road winding through picturesque fields lies a little glimpse of Africa. This is the most unique open air sculpture garden and gallery that I have ever seen. The first thing that greets the eye, through the trees is a mother elephant and her calf. These carvings from Zimbabwean river stone come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some are small hold in your hand type, others can tower over you. All exquisitely carved. The setting is marvelous. Quiet and peaceful under the trees on a mild day looking at amazing art is a great way to spend some time. Your are encouraged to touch the sculptures and talk to the resident artist. You can even take a course if you want. There is no pressure to buy or time limit on how long you wish to tour. There are beautiful areas to sit, frog ponds, and photos are allowed. Just a beautiful experience and it is all free.
Located just 15 minutes south of Peterborough. Season runs from June first until Thanksgiving. We go every year for the experience, some time even twice, it is that good. And for those that want to buy, sculptures come with there own certificate of authenticity, information on the artist etc.and are very reasonable. They also make a really good gift for those that are hard to buy for. I cannot say enough about what a positive experience this was.
Try it you cannot lose.
