We visited this tucked away place while on our southbound migration. It was fun and informative. A nice park with a great animal show/talk, good snack bar, great gift shop and a train ride through the swamp. Since it was December the still had their Christmas lights up so that was a bonus. They do have a boat tour also... More

Stopped by...very quite...only 4-5 cars in lot..walked out to tower and climbed up...115 steps up...only one there..very peaceful..great views...water level low so no boat activity...saw a few gators in a pin...snakes in glass cases...and bears in an enclosure...all in all had a good time..except Xmas music being played...nothing says Xmas like the swamp

I live 8 miles from the Swamp and am proud to have it in our part of South Georgia. It is known worldwide and presents nature in an exciting experience.

Who knew a 40 year old man would enjoy a swamp so much. We went for a hike to the observatory that looks out over the park. This was the highlight for his entire vacation. He proudly wears his Okefenokee Swamp shirt everywhere now.

Everyone was so hospitable! We took the boat tour but (sadly, didn't get there EARLY in the day so we missed the train ride :-( )... More
