A quick escape from Boise. On a weekday in the summer few people are up there and you have the place to yourself. A kayak does just fine. When the water levels go down you get lots of interesting features exposed.

Not far from the east end of Boise, this dam is easily reached in 20 minutes. Lovely desert environment and a great place for photographers.

The reservoir is little more than a place to store water for Boise. Without a boat this lake has little to offer. If your visiting and looking for scenic view, do yourself a favor and just drive to McCall

What a beautiful place to visit....everything is so clean around there. Great seeing so much water pouring through it! Found out that this dam was built prior to the Hoover Dam which was "supposedly" designed after this one.

Don't know that I'll ever get used to narrow, winding dirt roads but man is it pretty out there. Super short drive from downtown. People camp and fish on the beach/shore of the reservoir. Great for an afternoon picnic, fishing, or camping. I'm a fan.

One of the best times to visit is in the spring and fall when the water level starts to go done a little.

I really like to visit Arrowrock reservoir. There are generally a lot less people using Arrowrock than Lucky Peak, due to the dirt road and lack of facilities at Arrowrock. The old historic dam is really great to see and take photos on. The fishing is very good for both kokanee and trout, if you know where to go and... More

I have been fishing above Arrowrock dam in the reservoir for close to 40 years, camping here and there also. It's a semi rough but drivable dirt road, it's better going after it is graded. The old dam is cool to look at and in the spring when water levels are high watching the water being let out is interesting.

If you want warm water and very little crowd, Arrowrock is the place to go. The camping is free, but facilities are limited. Vault toilets at the ramp and at Irish point. I've been coming here for a few years and I like it better than Lucky Peak. The road is rough and narrow, so it's not for the faint... More
