It is called the"Shadowy St. Joe". Looks like the Idaho version of the bayou. Ideal for small boat or canoe exploring. Empties into Lake CoeurD'Alene. Good picnic spots and Heyburn State Park is very nice.

The St Joe tumbles down from some really primitive area from the high mtn peaks between Idaho and Montana down through St Maries and empties into Lake Coeur d alene. There are several nice campgrounds along the river.

The "Joe" has it all...rugged mountains, wildlife, rafting for the faint of heart as well as the adventurous and lots of camping opportunities. All three ways of getting there are amazing; through St. Maries you get the lazy, wide open part of the St. Joe,...More

My husband enjoys fly fishing and the "St. Joe" is his favorite destination. It's a ways outside Cd'A, but worth the drive.

Take a tour boat trip from the Coeur d' Alene Resort up the lake and the river within the lake. Wonderful way to spend a few hours on a hot summer day. Very comfortable and enjoyable cruise.

Many places for dispersed camping depending on what part of the River you want to be on. BLM has a nice campground on the lower ST. Joe named Huckleberry. From I90, go south from Walace, great drive on good dirt and gravel... More

Yes. The water is not extremely fast and has some places that are shallow. I have floated it several times.
