Worth a visit. Recommend a visit to the glass factory to see the Murano glass being made. Lots of shop specialising in Murano.

Definitely worth making the effort to visit and seek out the less touristy parts - go for a wander away from the glass shops. Some lovely buildings and views.

We had heard that it wasn't necessary to visit the other islands around Venice, but I really enjoyed Murano. It's a little quieter and a little nicer than Venice I think. The buildings are shorter and the canals/rivers have nice wide sidewalk areas, making the area feel a little more open. Lots of glass shops, if that's what you're looking... More

We have visited the Island of Murano a few times, and have always enjoyed watching the glassblowing artisans at work. There are many stores with their awesome pieces.

The actual island is not all that beautiful and the only real attraction is the Glass Museum. There are a few interesting churches and squares.

We spent a few hours on Murano Island and yes there are many beautiful exhibits of glass to see. However, there are so many stores and so much repitition that I would not recommend spending too much time there.

If you only have time to visit one of the small islands in the lagoon then we would suggest you go to Burano rather than Murano. However ideally take the water taxi & allow enough time to visit both. You need a couple of hours on each & a bit more if you want to stop for lunch somewhere. Murano... More

We didn't do the glass blowing experience. Instead we just wandered the island from end to end, crossing the little bridges and seeing what is around the next corner. A good morning or afternoon activity.

Isola di Murano is a must-see on your trip to Venice. The workshops there offer high quality glass products and some of them even show the whole glass making process.
