This is a lovely oasis close to town and rightly popular with the locals. We enjoyed a walk through the visitor's center where we learned about the creation of Lake Lowell, the area wildlife and were able to watch nesting osprey through a high-powered telescope.

We visited Deer Flat during July 2016, and were disappointed by the lack of any wildlife. We saw only a couple of blackbirds, and nothing else. Also there were many bees which kept landing on us, which made our walk rather unpleasant.
