The Bird Aviation Museum is a bit out of the way but truly worth visiting. The aircraft on display and associated memorabilia are only a small part of its attraction. Even more interesting, to me at least, are the displays of Dr. Bird's achievements in the field of respirology. His inventions in that field have been revolutionary and have already... More

The Bird museum is packed with memorabilia of flight, space flight and most importantly DR. Bird's respirators. These have saved that lived of countless children who were born with breathing problems. Anyone coming to the Sandpoint, ID. area should take the time to visit this FREE guided tour museum.

I was privileged to know "Doc" and his wife Pam and visited their museum many times when they were alive. Any time we have guests from out of town we take them to this extraordinary place. The museum houses virtually every aircraft and automobile "Doc" ever owned, which is a substantial number, along with exhibits spanning the history of aviation... More

The best private museum we've ever visited! My husband is a retired B-52 Navigator and we were astounded by Dr. Byrd's collection and the beautiful layout of all the exhibits! A great national treasure that is a must see!

This is North Idaho's best kept secret. It is a fascinating place with many aircraft, cars and artifacts. The invention center is educational and has great original displays. Dr. Forrest Bird and Dr. Pamela Bird have created a wonderful place and they will be sorely missed by all who loved them and appreciated what they have done in their lives.

I was totally in awe, as I had no idea who Dr. Byrd was. He was brilliant and we were so lucky the day we went with friends, he was still alive and was at the museum. The museum is free and they do serve (not free) a delightful lunch.

Fascinating not so small centre in a gorgeous part of Idaho. Went here for the aviation side of the exhibits, but was captured by the invention centre and medical exhibits. Huge collection (all personal!) of memorabilia, medical equipment, old technologies and aviation related artefacts and items that are truly fascinating. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, spent upwards of three hours... More

This museum is off the beaten path, but worth the drive. A collection of interesting historical medical inventions and aviation related items from Dr. and Mrs. Bird
