What a wonderful museum! There isn't anything I can think of that they do not have. It was an amazing afternoon spent wandering the halls and we could have spent the entire day here. Signage and directions were a bit vague but no big deal.

My 9yr old daughter and I had visited the Field Museum with my 2 toddler grand boys (1 &4 yrs old). MLK Day was free admission so their were lots of families with their children visiting. Surprisingly lines to enter and exit weren't long wait times although using the elevator with the stroller was a challenge. We enjoy the exhibits every January! There's a different learning experience and so much to explore. This my favorite Museum and we'll continue to visit every January.

My title sums it up. I walked to it from the Hotel Blake while my wife worked from our room. It was was a nice walk. I arrived just as it was opening. I have been in similar type of museums before. However, they cannot even come close to the Field Museum. I was overwhelmed with the exhibits. I spent about 6 hours there. I could go again today. Even if you are not really into prehistoric history and the development of civilization I think you could enjoy at least a short visit.

Due to our flights being cancelled for poor weather. We decided to go site seeing around Chicago and ended up here at the museum. We got free access as our company donates to the museum so we had nothing to lose. We parked close by for 30$ and a short walk later we were in side. We walked around for about two hours and seen a lot of cool stuff. Museums never disappoint and this one had a lot of cool stuff to see, read and watch. Lots of space for people to walk and many attendees walking around with artifacts and teaching moments. We enjoyed our time here

Depending on your interest level you could easily spend more than a day here. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for small children though as there are limited interactive exhibits and plenty of reading. The current special exhibit related to death was worth the extra fee, although I recognize not everyone is as interested as I am! Throughout this exhibit there are kiosks where you can answer a few questions about your thoughts on death and then shares the results of previous visitors. I appreciated some of the questions challenged me to reflect on my own personal views. I also looked forward to the Egyptian exhibit, although there is very low light in some areas which made it challenging to read some of the information. It was disappointing to see the perpetuation of the myth that the first Europeans arrived in 1492 (see photo) - when will that end?! In terms of food, I had a pretzel, small tub of berries and water for $19. As someone with post-concussion syndrome, I was grateful for the seating area just past cashier, as it was a bit quieter. I think some of the negative reviews are written by white folks who don’t want to accept the reality of colonialism. Instead of taking the opportunity to hear voices that have been silenced for a long time, some take it as a personal attack. Museums such as this have a long history of taking/buying cultural items they had no right to, so it’s refreshing to see the Field Museum be more transparent and responsible for past behaviour. Parts of this experience might make you feel uncomfortable but if you embrace it you may learn something about yourself and your fellow humans.

We had traveled from Atlanta Georgia to visit The Field Museum. We did not know that Monday February 20 was a free day at the Museum and therefore we were almost trampled any number of times by families, strollers, children.....adults too! There should have been a better way of controlling the number of people who entered the Musuem that day. It really took away from the experience. We really felt like we were being pushed through the exhibits by the crowds. We did not get in for "free"! We paid for our admission....

Easily one of the best museums I've ever been to. My family spent an entire day, from open to close and barely scratched the surface of what was available to see there. The exhibits were fascinating — especially the one about paleoamericans. The dinosaurs were great as well, although the 3D dinosaur movie was not necessarily worth the time we spent on it. If the city pass had allowed us to come back the next day, we probably would have spent another whole day there! I will definitely come back in a future vacation.

This review is for adults. If you’re curious, love to learn, love to travel the world I can see everything, and are interested in nature with a few side exhibits are equally interesting, this is a great place to spend two or three half days. my wife and I got there and then because of its size and our different interests, split up to explore. When we met a couple hours later, we realized that half day was not enough. I was mesmerized by the plant displays in the extensive info on coffee, plants to Edible nuts to mangoes. I only got 1/3 of the way through. she was fascinated by the animal family displays with some displays also showing their skeletons. For bird lovers, a couple hours in the bird section may be enough. It was sad to see the extinct birds of North America. A great place for a weekday date, or a couple half days for immersive experience.

The Field Museum offers a little of everything (dinosaurs, ancient americas, natural history, Egyptology, etc). While the Field doesn’t have the depth of larger museums (the Met in New York comes to mind), it offers a good selection of specific items. And yes, parking can be expensive, but don’t let that deter you from visiting.

Went with my daughters Girl Scout troop to a Dozing with Dino’s overnight event offered at the Field Museum. What an amazing experience for the girls to have basically free reign of the museum and even spend the night! Love the museum offers this experience!
