Great kid's experience

Visited with 3 grandchildren, aged 5, 7 and 9. While fairly interesting for adults, we found that the Kids loved it. Expensive, not so great lunch in cafeteria.

The Adler Planetarium is a great museum and planetarium. They have a lot of exhibits and many things to keep a kids attention. We brought two elementary school aged children with us and they were amazed by the exhibits and the planetarium. The Planetarium has multiple shows per day which were very interesting and educational. I highly recommend getting the... More

We went on a free day (for Illinois residents) so that did help with the costs. There is street parking but it fills up quick. The lot nearest to the Planetarium was charging $19. My kids enjoyed at Apollo mission area and the Family Exploration section (that was probably my favorite too but it was very hot in this area).... More

When out of towers come, this is always on my list. Recently a son with wife and 15 year old daughter visited and we went here on a cold, blustery day. Inside was warm and full of fascinating exhibits. W went to two of the movies on offer, one bout the skyward, the other about prehistoric times. The latter was... More

We like the Adler Planetarium's great exhibits and amazing shows. But many of our best photos of the Chicago skyline from Lake Michigan are actually from dry land from the Adler. See photos. In 3 hours we saw a great star show and a many exhibits. It's $35 each for the full tickets but for $100 we got the CityPASS... More

Our family of four used our CityPass to visit the Planetarium on New Years Eve. We arrived around 10am and quickly entered where we selected our first two movies (Planet Nine - excellent! and Destination Solar System - less than remarkable). The CityPass allows you to see all movies but you can only make two reservations at the beginning and... More

Went the same day as a Bears game. It took forever! But once we were there it was awesome! Planet 9 (a show in the planetarium) was very cool - I definitely recommend it. Bonus, they have discounts for students and teachers. Just make sure you have an ID. (Teachers are FREE!)

We were waiting something more from this place. First of all the view to downtown Cicago is GREAT, maybe the best view of the city ever. The lines for entrance were long even if we had City Pass. The stuff was absolutely helpful. But the only thing we saw was educational videos. Ok, they were very good and full of... More

We took 3 small boys to visit the Planetarium. What a fun day. They always have lots of great exhibits for the kids. Plus they have special activities that the kids can join. It's wonderful to watch the electronic devices be put away and minds be put to good use. Plus the views of the lake front are magnificent! This... More

Staying in South Loop

Neighbourhood Profile
South Loop
This downtown neighborhood offers a variety of activities ranging from cultural to sporting. If you happen to visit during football season, you may bump into a boisterous few fans on their way to a Bears game on the southernmost tip of South Loop. On the flip side, Museum Campus offers cultural and educational experiences in its planetarium, museum and aquarium, all situated along the lakefront. Grant Park is one of Chicago’s premier locations for green space and recreation with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Take a stroll down memory lane in the historic Prairie District where you can enjoy views of old historic homes. Restaurants, theaters, and clubs are spread throughout the neighborhood along with a collection of burger joints along Michigan Avenue just across from the park.
