As part of our city pass, we decided to go see the Adler Planetarium. Very quick and easy to enter, you just show your city pass and they give you their tickets and you can walk straight through. Lots of information inside the museum, also...More

Went for Alder after dark. It was a great time there were no kids running around and they served alcohol. The exhibits were interesting and I saw a few different shows. Unfortunately it was raining so I wasn't able to look into the observatory.

Some of the exhibits are worthwhile and potentially interesting. We noticed that our 6 1/2 yr old grand daughter reacted most positively to those with a person present, like a teacher, to interactive with. The "cosmology" exhibit is over the heads of most visitors. My...More

It was a good experience, but we went on a rainy weekend so everyone was there. It was very interactive for the kids, there is also plenty for adults to do and see. A little bit pricey especially if you wanted to include a movie...More

First the bad. I get so frustrated with the huge sales pitch. If it is so absolutely inconceivable that you shouldn't become a member, why don't they just only sell membership? Are you saying I am an absolute fool not to become a member? Am...More

Prior to this experience, I had never been inside a planetarium before...I LOVED IT! There was so much interesting information that appealed to both adults and children. They also offered a movie with our city pass, which was intriguing and fascinating. What was so delightful...More

I never been to this planetarium. So decided to check out this place with my teenage daughter during winter break. It turned out to be a good place to visit. They have good shows and good museum with lots of information if you are into...More

Went today (free basic admission for IL residents) saving $12 per adult (and my 13 yo) and $16 for 2 11 yo, $40 in total. Paid close to $49 extra for all for one fairly cool 30 minute show that is simply too expensive. Seats...More

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Not worth the money unless you're seeing the shows. The screens are large and the shows were good... but even then, a show we paid for was canceled due to "illness." Is this a joke? The person who is set to READ...More

My kids (ages 8/5) earned free tickets to the Adler as part of a school reading program. Kudos to Adler for participating and for giving my wife/I free admission along with them. If I consider this a free attraction, it was fine. There were a...More

South Loop
This downtown neighborhood offers a variety of
activities ranging from cultural to sporting. If you
happen to visit during football season, you may bump
into a boisterous few fans on their way to a Bears
game on the southernmost tip of South Loop. On the
flip side, Museum Campus offers cultural and
educational experiences in its planetarium, museum and
aquarium, all situated along the lakefront. Grant Park

Not a big cooler but they say bringing a “brown bag lunch” is permissible. It’s in the FAQ section on their website.

The place is big! To do each exhibit justice, it would take a while. If you're really interested in astronomy, you'll want to spend at least half a day. If you have only a passing interest, then a couple of hours is plenty... More

I don't remember being able to reserve shows online. You may not even need to. I just walked to the counter when I arrived, showed them my City Pass, and then they gave me a choice of shows and times I could go to. I... More
