Great place for kids

I love anything to do with space. That being said I loved this place, there is a show which is free with the CityPass which I highly recommend you purchase, well this show is well worth it. it goes through different planets while the host interacts with the " spaceship " very cool i think. It also has other things... More

Even though many of the reviewers have commented this is an excellent place to take children, I think there is something for everyone here. I really enjoyed the planets exhibit (near the cafeteria). Couldn't believe how many space missions there have been. We saw two shows: Destination Solar System (rather basic and tailored more for kids) and Planet Nine (fascinating... More

Our kids had a blast making and launching rockets, trying to create an item that would stay suspended in the wind tunnel, and playing in the kids activity area. For myself, the one that loves space I found the Mission to the Moon the most fascinating. Check it out.

I have always enjoyed the mysteries of space. So, naturally the Adler Planetarium has always been one of my favorite museums. I had not been here in many years, so the exhibits of course have changed. The exhibits are so wonderful and interesting. I spent over 2 hours just exploring. I also really liked dining at Cafe Galileo. Such a... More

The Planetarium is one of a kind. Very nice experience. Good for a day trip to the city. Cool exhibitions and different rooms and effects. Very educational for children and for adults. There are admission-free days for Illinois residents and also it used to be free half an hour before closing, is you would like to check it out quickly... More

Smaller museum. Great for kids who enjoy space exploration. A few different movies, which need to pay for extra. Shorter visits compared to the other major museum like attractions in Chicago.

Daughter started a solar system unit at school and was assigned a planet report. We gathered a lot of great information and watched 3 of the "movies". They were really well done and I highly recommend them. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The cafe food was very good also. Found a great deal on Groupon and was able to... More

I was hoping to learn a lot by visiting here, but it felt mostly like a place for kids/families than anything. If you go on a weekend or day - be aware of that. With that being said, I know they have the 'Adler After Dark,' which I need to experience (as it's NOT for kids!). Regardless, it was educational... More

Leave yourself a full day to walk around and see all the displays. So much to see and lots of hands on activities too. I thought I bought online (guess not) but the gentleman at the front desk (wish I knew his name) more than took care of us! We saw 'comic wonder' which was very interesting and informative. We... For this trip we purchased the all access pass and got to see 3 shows, so fun! It takes a few hours if you want to see more than 1 show and all the exhibits and is really unique. If it's cold and rainy out you can make this an all day event! We really enjoyed ourselves

Staying in South Loop

Neighbourhood Profile
South Loop
This downtown neighborhood offers a variety of activities ranging from cultural to sporting. If you happen to visit during football season, you may bump into a boisterous few fans on their way to a Bears game on the southernmost tip of South Loop. On the flip side, Museum Campus offers cultural and educational experiences in its planetarium, museum and aquarium, all situated along the lakefront. Grant Park is one of Chicago’s premier locations for green space and recreation with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
