We did the 9.00 all day pass, it was a great way to see the riverwalk and all the bags and restaurants that are on that level that you can not see from the street.

The water taxis are a great way to go from place to place and see the city from the water. The taxis are quiet , clean , and inexpensive. Can get on and off to explore from Chinatown to Michigan Avenue.

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.

I am going to be there Christmas and New Years. Does the river ever freeze over so they can't run the boat tours? I hope I can go in a boat tour or taxi around via the water!!

Can you stay on the taxi and enjoy the ride if you have a day pass? Or do you have to get off at each stop?

I believe your ticket takes you where you want to go. I bet you could stay on the boat and just ride around I have not tried it.
