The Pritzker Military Museum & Library is located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street on floors two through four of the historic Monroe Building in Chicago's Loop. Situated across the street from Millennium Park (home to Cloud Gate and the Crown Fountain) and the Art Institute of Chicago, The Library is a unique institution – part military history and information center, part museum – open to the public with an extensive collection of books, artifacts and rotating exhibits covering many eras and branches of the military. The Library is a center where citizens and Citizen Soldiers come together to learn from each other, about military history and the role of the Armed Forces in today’s society.

This is first and foremost a library, but they do have a number of displays of artwork and artifacts that make a stop worthwhile if you're already in the neighborhood at the Art Institute across the street, etc. When we visited, the displays included a...More

You probably need to be a military history buff/geek to enjoy the Pritzker, but it is an easily digestible museum/library. You enter through a spectacularly renovated building--that alone was a cool feature of our visit. Upstairs, you will find two floors of exhibits and books....More

The museum, in fact, the whole building is exemplary of how to preserve a building and history properly. Many aspects of American military activity and the people who made it happen are well explained.

We saw the letters for the museum's name from the street and ventured inside. A doorperson advised us to head up the stairs. Fair admission to this not for profit destination. The book collection is outstanding! The exhibit of North Vietnamese War posters was phenomenal....More

It is nice place with an interesting atmosphere. However, it isn't a museum, it's a library. There were a few photos and posters, thats it. The library is impressive but certainly not a tourist attraction.

A small, but interesting collection. The library clearly would be a good place for researchers, but the space had several interesting temporary exhibitions. Don't miss the Medal of Honor display. Would be suitable for older children, but might be more difficult for younger kids -...More

Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of
