This outstanding fountain is one of the largest fountains in the world, and it has water shows! It was built with inspiration from Latona Fountain at the Palace of Versailles and will give you an idea of its splendor. It is a landmark of Chicago...More

We found the Buckingham Fountain described in several places, but nowhere did it say it was seasonal! We visited on November 3rd, and it was not operating. Not sure of the exact dates of operation/non-operation, but before you trek over there, ask a local if...More

It isn't quite the Trevi Fountain but it also isn't a high school drinking water fountain. However, it is a fountain.

A great point of reference in Chicago. Recommended for sunset walks, and see the light show late. In some days at summer the Fountain does not work since the heat, so stay tuned.

No water in it, dirty, not recommendable to go during Fall or Winter. You will definitely loose time.

Great spot for pictures! Of the fountain or you in front of the fountain. On a clear day the Chicago skyline can be seen in the background and will make for a breathtaking photo! Multiple benches all around it so you can take a breather...More

I have to see this fountain every time we go to Chicago, I just think it is so pretty. The views overlooking the fountain and then off to the lake is the best spot!

This is a place not to be missed whether visiting or living in Chicago. The Fountain is most spectacular at night. I went as a child and find it mesmerizing in my sixties!

This fountain and surrounding area are must sees when in Chicago - especially beautiful during the Spring, Summer or Fall and right by the Lakefront - awesome!

“Married With Children” that is all. The vantage point while at Buckingham Fountain was fantastic gazing back into the city. The amount of history blowing through the nice summer breeze was astounding. Lots of history.

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of
Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of

Limited metered street parking on Columbus. There is the Grant Park underground garage at Monroe and Columbus.

The fountain operates mid-April through mid-October from 8 am-11 pm, so it kind of depends on when, in October, you will be visiting.

If you travel in the warmer months, it's a must do on the list though not sure if it will be open in cooler climate as I visited in early Sept!
