We got lucky and took the river tour on a beautiful day (after many rainy days in May). The docent, William, was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job describing the history and architectural style of many buildings along the river. He was very graceful when a helicopter airlifting debris from the old post office stole his show. Overall, I... More

Went on tour at beginning of May when weather not too good. However, the architectural tour we took was brilliant. The tour guide was very good - loved his subject and was very informative. A must-do in Chicago. We would do it again and definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend and I came to Chicago for the weekend. He had been here serveral times but i had never been. So in order to show me the city in a way that fit into our short trip we took the architecture boat tour. Our guide Rachel was awesome and full of knowledge and humor. I would totally recommend this... More

The architect river tour was more than we expected. We went at 7:30pm which was perfect. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. The view from the water gives you a much better perspective. As we where returning to dock the sun was setting and the lights of the city where beautiful. There are restrooms, soft drinks, coffee, and... More

My wife and I took the tour on Sunday May 21st in the early afternoon. Originally we were scheduled to do this tour the previous Friday, but it was raining and we looked to re-schedule. Trying to do this through our original Expedia booking was very difficult especially after the original date. However, Shoreline Sightseeing was very accommodating and facilitated... More

Very good architecture tour on the Chicago River. The boat was comfortable with unobstructed viewing. The sound system was perfect and the docent excellent.

We took the Architectural Cruise on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The tour guide, Dave, was really good - amusing and instructive. We learned a lot about the city and buildings in general. I would recommend this for a nice day. There is a bar on the boat and they sell a few snacks.

Really enjoyed our tour and guide. It was relaxing and informative. Beautiful buildings. This is the 2nd time I have done the tour. Was just as good as the first time. Would recommend to anyone who wants to relax, maybe learn a little and enjoy the views of all these wonderful, tall buildings.

Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
