There are many tour options offered, and in summertime, the boats launch about every half-hour. You can buy tickets online for no extra fee, but do so at least 90+ minutes before your desired tour. It seems like they may suspend online sales as it...More

This was, by a significant margin, the best tour of any kind I've ever taken in a city (this includes wildlife tours, ghost tours, historical tours). We boarded at 8:00 p.m. and watched the sunset slowly fade over the skyscrapers and become replaced with twinkling...More

The Wendell Architecture Tour was a highlight of our trip. The Wendella staff was attentive and knowledgeable, the boat impeccable, and the views of Chicago spectacular! This is a must for anyone in Chicago!

This is a must to do while you are in Chicago. This tour explains all the fire of 1871. this fire went on for two days and killed 300 people. however to see the area today you would never believe that. The architecture is beautiful....More

I truly loved the Architecture and Lake tour I took this past weekend! Starting at Michigan Avenue, in front of the Rigley Building, you are able to get on with your morning coffee and enjoy the cruise. The narrator was fun and knowledgeable, giving little-known...More

We loved this tour. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it was described as a 90-minute tour and it ended up being a 3-hour tour, which forced us to adjust our dinner reservations. Our tour guide Bob was really entertaining...More

Thanks for the nice review. We love Bob too and get a lot of great feedback about him, a true Chicago original. We apologize that you had to change your dinner reservations, the Lock is very busy on Saturdays and we are constantly exploring ways...More

We were told by multiple people - Chicago natives included - that the Architectural Tour offered by Wendella was a must when we visited. It is a 75 minute tour guided by a woman who has been giving this tour for 30 years. It was...More

There are many tours available to see the scenic and architectural wonders of the Chicago skyline from both the river and Lake Michigan. This is less an endorsement of Wendella (which was friendly and professional) than to recommend that if you are in Chicago, this...More

Great fun to see all the architecture along the Chicago river. Some nice insights by the guide and the trip goes further on the river compared to other boat tours

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.

Most kids love the lake! The Chicago River Architecture Tour is great, but I do believe that most children want to get on the lake.
