Tucked in between many other tourist sites (Water Tower, John Hancock Centre, next to The Whitehall hotel) is this welcoming treasure. Seamless interweaving of old with new. Stained glass in proper 1912 gothic structure glows and is also highlighted in the modern new hallways. Second...More

What a refreshing encounter with other fellow worshippers gathering to feed the soul and spirit. This Gothic, Revival-style church is beautifully maintained with lovely grounds and a clean interior as you would expect for a house of God. I would recommend this church to those...More

This beautiful church is always open and welcoming! Calm and peaceful inside, visitors can't help but be renewed and refreshed with even a short visit inside. Take a break from the busy city scene outside and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful church.

This vine-covered Gothic-Revival-style church stands at the corner of North Michigan Avenue and Chestnut Street on the Magnificent Mile. It offered me a respite from the hordes of shoppers outside. But I also got a close look at the second oldest surviving structure north of...More

The Fourth Presbyterian is one of the oldest buildings in Chicago. It has a lovely cloister, excellent stained glass, and a fine organ. The exterior is covered in ivy, which is a cool effect, not often seen on churches. It's also across the street from...More

It was so quiet and peaceful inside, clear signage, great 5min stop from a busy day. Emerging back on to the city streets felt like stepping back into the whirlwind haha

Stopped in to take a look while in Chicago during Labor Day weekend in 2016. The sanctuary is spacious, and many people were there for a look around. I enjoyed a garden outside, which is dedicated to a late parishioner. The worship times are listed...More

The ivy covered church caught our eyes while we were exploring the Water Tower area of the Magnificent Mile. The church was closed for the holiday, but we were able to step into the courtyard and enjoy a moment of reflection.

take a break from the crowds; a beautiful little garden and a spectacular sanctuary. Spend some time walking around in the sanctuary or just sitting and enjoying the silence.

This church is located right at the Magnificent Mile; it offers a nice respite from the large shopping crowds. Lovely gothic church with a nice stained glass window dating back from ~1930. The surrounding gardens are also beautiful.

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.
