Jokes on us.?... I heard that Picasso had very young girlfriends as models...but...his dog ??!! I understand that Mayor Richard J Daley, wanted to bring a few great artists to Chicago, to rival New York City and to 'class it up'....so allegedly after getting the City council to approve the millions it must have taken, to pay for "it"....wow....look at... Chicago has so many fascinating sculptures and art around. I wouldn't make a trip to see it, but on the trolley tour we past it. I learned this was during Picasso's fascination with Africa phase

There is something sort of amusing about this statue. It has no name! That may be because Picasso never visited Chicago and was adament about not doing so! He was sent many different ideas of Chicago type things to incorporate and chose none. The statue is fun to see. It was the very first piece of public art purchased by... More

Can you believe Cicago got this unique sculpture and its there for all to see! Iconic sculpture, wonderful to view from so many angles. You can admire it from afar or you can get close and touch it. Great discussion topic for what it is and what you see in it. It is located on Daly plaza where there are... More

Saw this statue on a walking tour. Interesting story on how the statue came to be. A great stop on our tour.

The backdrop every Christmas in the Christkindl Market, it towers over everyone else and is easily seen from any angle. The most accessible Picasso work of art I know.

If you're looking for a good selfie in Chicago and want an alternative to the overused Bean, look for the Picasso Statue, which has been here for longer than the Bean and is just as iconic to the city. In Winter the wind will probably be howling so take that selfie quickly!

Walk around it, note the dexterity of the sculpture and Picasso's genius. Then imagine Jake and Elwood being chased by the entire Chicago police force or Ferris Bueller singing "twist and Shout". Fun.
