It is fort which is located on the outskirts of Bengaluru on the highyway to Anantpur. The fort is in ruins and only the section of the fort wall, ramparts and the Gate facing the highway are intact. The locals reside within the walls of the fort and the town has now spilled over beyond the walls of the fort.... More

This fort is the birthplace of Tipu Sultan. Lies beyond the Bangalore airport on the highway, on the way to Lepakshi. No maintenance. An entire town has mushroomed around this fort. Visit this just for a check mark this one in your places of visit list.

A few kilometres from the Bangalore International Airport and en-route the tourist haunt of Nandi Hills is the Devanhalli Fort (or Kote as it is locally called). The outer walls of the fort on the side facing the highway are all that remain today along with a few old temples. The town of Devanhalli has grown into the fort. Many... More

A very small fort. But what was impressive are the fort walls which are in good condition. And close by is the birth place of Tipu Sultan.

You would pass this one without even knowing that there is so much of history attached to this place. Like anyother tourist spot this one too is ignored. Visit the Tipu's birth place , there is a small monument erected around the place. Past that you arrive at the main entrance of the fort. The gate and the walls are... More

This visit is worth only for the historic value attached to the place. The signboard off the NH 7 leads to the fort, but the information boards are in utter state of neglect. You can spend a maximum of 30 mins only. However lot of temples around so you can make it a religious trio too. It can also be... More

This is a great fort. Although very small it is worth the time. The brick work and structure is really interesting. The grounds are small and well maintained. The streets around are pretty full on with stalls on the pavements.

Devanahalli fort is definitely a place of historical significance and has become more prominent post the new Bengaluru airport in its vicinity. The fort is unfortunately not maintained well probably due to lack of visitors. It lacks amenities too.But definitely a quaint place to explore history around Bengaluru.

"Devanahalli fort" is located 35 km north of Bangalore. Other words, It is located in NH 7 (Bangalore Hyderabad Highway) around 12Kms from BLR. Though the fort has great historical and archeological importance it is very ill maintained.. There are 12 semi-circular bastions at the fort. The entrances of the fort have been decorated with plaster work which adds on... More
