This is not a huge museum but it covers so much of history and the displays are very well done. They have made great effort to bring you the best. You can spend and easy hour but if your into war history plan on two or more. The staff is friendly and helpful and I would encourage this stop for... More

What a great museum. Well put together and so much information about every war our country has been involved in. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth the stop!

I stopped by this museum while I was visiting Danville last month. I'll be honest- I figured a museum in a town the size of Danville probably wouldn't have much to their exhibits. I will happily admit that I was WRONG! This is one of the best museums that I have ever visited (and I go to a lot of... More

Come take a walk back into history. See the place were Lincon slept and adressed the town. The medical office of prominent citizens of the day. See examples of the industry that made the area well known. It is all here and much more.

The staff was very courteous. They were dressed up as different presidents. They also did the battle of the gettysburg war

We were interested in the Civil War and found a very nice display, much larger than we thought it would be. We were amazed at the extent of all the collections, even a display for trench art and a special room just for D-Day with audio recordings. Planned on one hour and spent two, wish we had more time. Think... More

We were pleasantly surprised to see that the city of Danville, Illinois, with a population of only 32,000 people, is home to the Vermilion County War Museum. Located at 307 North Vermilion Street in the old Carnegie Library building, it occupies almost 14,000 square feet and displays artifacts and memorabilia and exhibits from 250 years of warfare involving the United... A must see especially for those that were not born till after the major wars. Let's them see what are veterans contributed to Preserve the USA. The displays are exceptional. Do not pass up a visit.

A wonderful resource in Danville for both community and natural history. Not only are the Fithian home and the recently built courthouse building well-appointed with exhibits, the staff and volunteers are amazingly knowledgeable! Well worth the visit for travelers and locals interested in the area.
