Visiting this place is a trip down memory lane. When life was simpler and good times were easier to be had

We enjoyed the McDonald's museum in des plaines. Really nostalgic feeling of being there to see the first McDonald's. Price also looked very lucrative hopefully prices will be in control in the future also. A must visit place when in des plaines.

I remember when this opened, and all McDonald's looked like this. Although it's a museum, not really open to the public. Worth driving by if you are in the area. Anyone born after the 70's or 80's might not remember how this was the highlight of some teen weekends back in the 60's. Sometimes a few old cars in the... More

This was either the first or one of the first McDonalds and I went there as a kid usually on our way out to Bangs Lake.

I like the first McDonald's museum but many times the old cars are covered and the gates are closed meaning you can't get a great view of the old school restaurant. I wonder if they had someone selling swag during warmer months if that would help. I've never seen that. I drive by there almost every day.

McDonald's #1 Store Museum is worth a look if you are in the area. You cannot go inside but you can take pictures of the building and the vintage cars. There is a working McDonald's just across the street.

All big things start small... you can see the 'life' of McD, how it evolved through pics... overall, a decent place to visit...

It is really something to see the first McDonald's even though you can't go in. You can see it pretty well from outside the gate. When you think about how THIS little restaurant became the largest chain in the world it really of blows your mind. While each one is different, no matter which one you go to in the... More

Don't go out of your way to go here just look up the pictures online. You can't go in and have an experience. It's a room behind pexi-glass with some museum statues. They obviously dont serve food - no one's there (some people have been under the impression that it actually served food). Skip, skip, skip. I mean IF you're... More
