If you take the time to read all the signs you could spend some time here. It was pleasant and attractive, a great little park

We enjoyed walking about in this little square. The statues were very well done and there were plaques about that shared newspaper reproductions, political cartoons, etc., from the time of the famous debate. Reading the history of the events that took place here really drove home how important this area was during the years before and after the Civil War.... More

A very historic place next to Union Dairy in Freeport, IL. Great place to see speeches and hang-out in downtown.

We enjoyed stopping here and reading all the information on the posted signs about the Lincoln/Douglas debate. Nice small park. We also planned to visit the Union Dairy right there as well, but just our luck -- closed on Monday, which was the day we were there.

this is the most important debate of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. The statue is life size and very life like. Read your history before you come

great place to read about some history in Freeport, IL and see the statue of Lincoln and Douglas, the actual location of one of the seven debates the took place in Illinois. Great location, right between a beautiful library and a 100+ year old ice cream parlor, The Union Dairy!
