This winery is worth the visit whether you enjoy exploring new wine options or just want to be in the "country." Pam was the perfect hostess for our tasting. We were not rushed and the pours were generous. She explained each wine and provided some history of the area and vineyard. Be sure to check out the fossils around the... More

The wines were very tasty and we bought several bottles. I loved the casual, cozy atmosphere. Barrels for tables, games and puzzles to work on while you sat around. We ate a lunch plate of cheeses, sausage, and other assorted snacks. Would certainly recommend

Ruby the Spaniel was a wonderful greeter! The staff is both gracious and knowledgeable. It is a very quaint place with a very nice view. I want to go back in the summer and sit outside , sip some wonderful wine with Ruby and enjoy the vista!

Looking for somewhere to visit on lovely Sunday for a drive, we opted for the 2 hour trip to Famous Fossil Winery. What a cozy lovely place! Lyn was sweet and the wine was tasty! We got the 1/2 Sweet and Savory plate and sat outside with a glass of wine. The outside area was so lovely! All the bees... More

Near Cedarville, the winery is in a beautiful setting. The grounds are lovely and the vineyard well kept. The shop was decorated with things of autumn; pumpkins, corn shocks, etc. The shop was well lit and clean, with an employee to assist. We did not do any tasting (but could have), but we did buy two bottles of fruit wine.

Found this place while looking for things to do in the area. Stopped in and got a mini tour by the owner after which we did a tasting. Some very nice wines are available. Bought a glass along with a snack tray and sat out on the spacious deck. Beautiful view of the small vineyard and adjacent farm fields. Bought... More

The atmosphere was adorable! Cute place with gorgeous views of the vines from the quant balcony. The tasting was smooth and the attendant was friendly and eager to find us just the right wine. We enjoyed a snack and a glass of wine on our way to Galena for a girls weekend. We left with a variety of bottles but... More

Very friendly service and beautiful view out in the middle of nowhere. Tasting available and wine was very good. Ordered a glass of wine and shared a fruit & cheese plate. I had to buy several bottles to take home.

My husband and I took a short drive to this beautiful winery and so glad that we did. We would have loved to enjoy the patio with the views of the vineyard but the rain kept us inside. There is seating for a large group or small intimate tables for two. All with wonderful views of the vineyard. We both... More

I will start out with the nicest part of the winery which is the patio. I great place to sit, relax, sip your wine and enjoy the scenery. Other than that Fossil doesn't make the cut. We were unable to find even one wine that we liked. All the wine was way too sweet and lacked flavor. The pours were... More

So sorry your visit was disappointing. Maybe you didn't have a chance to try our LaCrescent, Marquette or Fossil Creek Red, all of which are very dry wines. I'm also sorry if our tasting room was too crowded for you. We can seat 25 people but sometimes Saturdays are very busy. I hope you find a winery that better suits... More
