In season--at certain times--you can see iron work craftsmen who will explain the process to you. Located in a barn like structure right downtown-one block behind Main Street.

Structure very old and still in use. The volunteer we spoke with was a fount of information about the area, the city and about the blacksmith shop and it's working. We visited literally in the last hours before the site was closed for the season. $4 p/p suggested donation is reasonable. Based on the docent's information we walked along the... More

This was one of my first stops in Galena. We visited towards the end of the day as they were just starting to wrap things up. But the man working the furnace was still creating things. He was really informative telling us about how the blacksmith shop worked today how it had worked in the past and the history of... More

Historical accurate presentation on how to make horse shoes to paper weights. Great for kids or those who are not familar with this side of history.

This little Blacksmith Shop has a lot of history and has even moved residence to where it stands now! It operates on donations only and is considered part of the museum. The people there are incredible! They are not only talented and patient, but friendly as well. Yvonne is one of our favorites. If you get a chance to see... More

Interesting. My husband is very interested in iron-work and blacksmithing as my father-in-law does this as a pastime hobby. Bryan was working the day we were there, neat to listen to!

This is a working blacksmith shop. It doesn't take much time to see. The operators are very knowledgeable of the history of the are in general and this shop.

This is a definite "must stop" location in Galena. My bride and I always love to watch the blacksmiths work and pickup something from the gift shop.

Very informative! It's FREE ( there is a jar for donations!) Blacksmiths are at work, showing how they make things to sell in their shop. Only takes a few minutes to go through, nice little stop and only a block away from a great pizza place, Procento's Pizzeria!! Very clean place!!!

Was a wonderful place to sit and relax while watching a blacksmith show a trade that is really from a by gone era. You can also purchase some of the items they make
