We've toured many Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings. This tour focused on the dramatic journey this house and its owners have been on... very interesting! Highly recommend a visit.

I've been to several Frank Lloyd Wright properties and I loved this one the best. Characterized as his first prairie style house, the quartersawn oak throughout and the linear styling of everything from the ballisters to the custom stained glass windows are so striking. However, the real charm of the place is revealed by the lovingly-delivered hour-long tour, which details... More

If you have any interest in Frank Lloyd Wright, architecture, or just like to tour houses this is certainly worth a visit. This "Prairie Style" house is located on the Kankakee River with a lovely view and was his Wright's first house in this style. We had a very informative tour guide for our hour tour. You see both levels... More

Lived in Chicagoland all my life and never knew this beautiful home was only an hour away. All of the workers there were helpful, and cheery. The home was in excellent shape, but as our tour docent noted, much of the original furniture was no longer there, though it did very little to detract from the experience. Also, the home... More

If you are in the Kankakee area and have even a passing interest in Frank Lloyd Wright's "Prairie Style," this is a must see. Docent was very knowledgeable as was gift shop staff. Gift shop has wonderful array of Wright-inspired items at all price points. Nice views of Kankakee River. Wright enthusiasts from Romania went through on tour before us-this... More

One of Architect Frank Lloyd Wright's most important designs. This house is very interesting as it was designed by Wright as he was perfecting his prairie style. Lovingly restored on a beautiful and spacious riverfront site. Well worth the drive from Chicago. The living room has a large bay window with incredible art glass of Wright's design, breathtaking!

Events such as banquets and Art Exhibitions are held here throughout the year. I have done photo shoots within the house and on the grounds and participated both as an arts council and community member in events. A quaint gift shop with historic, Kankakee and Wright related items with many local artisan items to choose from. The workers are friendly... More

The drive from Chicago area was worthwhile to meet a docent, who can't help but be passionate about this first Wright commission. The six of us were joined by 6 other unrelated tour participants for the 1pm Thursday tour. The tour was scheduled to last for an hour but the tour ran longer. Our group did not notice the time... My daughter and I had a lovely time visiting this gem. The property has had quite the history, but the renovations are beautiful. There is an admission fee, and of course a gift shop. If you get a chance, take the boat ride! It's $10 per person and you pay at the dock.
