Some 30 mins drive from Salalah is the famous Bin Ali's tomb, apparently Bin Ali was revered in the early days of Islam as a sage and holy man. You will see the twin onion domes of this sparkling white monument to Mohammed Bin Ali makes a powerful impact on the visitor. Its set in a huge cemetery with hundreds of tombstones rising from the green and brown ground like macabre sculptures.
However when you wander round, just think that you are stepping into the past of almost 1,000 years. The Tomb does not require too much exploration, its just off a tarmac road.

This tomb is very well kept and the guide really gave a great explanation of its history. Please be respectful when you are there, two German tourists had to be spoken to as they were being very disruptive.

Not a lot to see here other than this unusually shaped building surrounded by a cemetery. We didn't go in as it was only tiny and there were people inside praying, but good to take a photo from the outside if you're in the area.

The resting place of Muhammed Bin Ali (RA), one of the decendents of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) from the lineage of Ali Bin Abu Talib (RA) & Fatimah Al-Zahra (RA). He was great scholar of Islam. From the locals or from the people who know the history, this place is not be disrespected because of Muhammed Bin Ali's (RA)Tremendousness. One should read more about his life to know more about his greatness and blessings one will receive from Allah through this great saint.

A tiny beautiful mosque containing the grave of Muhammed Bin Ali who was a descendant of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him and His Family. A very peaceful place where you can also pray. You will find details of Muhammad Bin Ali's lineage on the wall inside the area containing the grave.
Outside the mosque you will find hundred's of graves and some headstones with hand carved arabic on them. It's easy to see that some of these graves are literally hundred's of years old.

Just at the entrance of Mirbat, before the horses statues, a whitewashed tomb of Mohammed Bin Ali is located. He was a respected religious leader who died in 556H (1161 AD). There is a big graveyard around the tomb.

Visited the tomb as part of a cruise excursion. Long ride, middle of nowhere, not much to see. In the middle of arabic cemetery. Folks who went inside not impressed.

You’re in the area; why not? As religious sites go, small and simple. Interesting nearby cemetery as well. Ladies, bring a headscarf to enter.

Hi how are you. I need to know the history bin Ali and how I can reach there
Written October 18, 2015
He was descendent of Imam Ali (4th Caliph), 7th in line after Imam Jaffer Sadiq bin Muhammed Bin Ali. He was local Islamic scholar and a revered pious man and that's why you will be seeing many locals visiting the tomb. You can find it easily on GPS. In general you will have to go on the road from Salalah towards Mirbat (Highway 49). You will have to look for Bin Ali street on right side of the highway. The tomb is situated at the end of this street besides the graveyard.
