This Victorian Viewing Station is the perfect place on the beautiful west shore, to take in a panoramic view of Windermere. Wander up the Viewing Station as the first tourists to the Lakes did hundreds of year before you. Don't miss the cosy cafe in the courtyard and the striking vistas from the top of the station.

Beautiful spot, loved the views through the coloured glass at the viewing station and the cafe was lovely and was thrilled to find they sold vegan cake, a lovely surprise.

Went in search of a straightforward Walk with the dog in lovely surroundings. Just the ticket! Ample parking although it’s a quiet time now. Open space for ball throwing and wide paths lakeside. Amazing views from the summit.

Near a lakeside ferry, which takes vehicles so access is easy, though mainly frequented by walkers. Lovely views from the elevated position. The views can be seen through various coloured panels, which are supposed to give an indication of varying seasons.

There is a walk up to the Victorian Viewing station, but it is worth it to see the views of the Lakes and Fells that have been unseen until this special place was restored.

A beautiful historical setting at the side of the lake. There is a quaint shelter below the tower adorned with gorgeous little lamps dangling from the rafters. The viewing station itself is a tricky access and not good for the wobbly or frail. The seating...More

This place -- and the reason for my wife and I making an excursion to it - is the subject of a chapter of Alfred Wainwright's book, "The Outlying Fells of Lakeland". We left here suitably impressed and would recommend it to others.

Fabulous views once again from this glorious spot. Not so good as when the leaves are off the trees. There is a cafe at the base where you can get great refreshments. No toilet on site but there are facilities a few hundred yards near...More

My sister and I came here after seeing it from on a boat on Lake Windermere. We walked from Hilltop. Really worth the walk, fabulous views and we had fun taking pictures around the place as well as through the coloured glass. Highly recommend.

We stopped off here whilst.on a walk. The views across Windermere are lovely. Not too far from ferry and not too steep a climb. Definitely worth visiting.

The cafe below sells "packed lunches", which is a good idea. Coffee acceptable. No toilets onsite. Viewing station itself is a small ruin with stunning views. Bit of a steep climb for elderly or very young. Parking nearby is awkward, but if you find yourself...More
