Our Son gave an overnight 'Glamping Experience" on Cockatoo Island as my husband's 67th Birthday gift. We chose to go when the weather was good so Spring and Autumn were obvious choices - we settled for just before Easter and the weather was perfect. It was a lot of fun to travel by ferry from Circular Quay to the island... More

My grandchildren 12,10 & 7 love going here. They get the maps from the office to 'crack the code'!! The views are amazing from the top. So much history here from convict & ship building days. We have seen seagulls nesting, their eggs & fledglings. They love walking through the dogleg tunnel as well. The facilities are always clean. We... More

Really fantastic place if you're into history and the evolution of the island from the late 1800's to modern day. The Sydney harbor ferry takes you safely and easily to the island dock. Free admission to the UNESCO World Site. (other then the cost of the ferry. All bus, tram and ferry payment is with an OPAL card) The island... More

5 & 7 year old enjoyed the kids treasure hunt- we should have looked at the map first- we went the long way around the lower part of the island and then didn't have as much time to explore the higher parts which were really interesting... Cafe food was good, not a long wait and prices were reasonable.

We enjoyed the audio tour and think it might be boring for someone who does not take this option (and it is only $5 so definitely worthwhile). We enjoyed the history and think this will be lost on kids. It does involve walking out in the open so wear comfy shoes and sunscreen. We found it informative and the volunteers... More

Take the ferry from Darling Harbor to Cockatoo. Interesting grounds and history of the penal colony. Site of several movies. Great views. Two cafes offer light meals. Great photo stop!

I had no idea of what to expect as the ferry drew up to the quay. I was astounded to find that, following the self guided tour, there was so much fascinating information to be found. I learned a huge amount and could have stayed on another 2 hours. As it was I spent nearly 3 hours and need to... More

Over priced and under delivered. Wrongly advertised as clamping! You get a non powered tent with single camp beds. Oh they supply an esky but you have to buy the ice! Nice camping location and camping facilities however to price and describe it as clamping is a disgrace. To top it off you can't take alcohol onto the island.
