Thoroughly enjoyed a 8 hour day tour I took around this route as part of a small (15) organised tour group. Our guide drove us around some of the most fantastic sights imaginable; the sheer power of Gulfoss waterfall is breathtaking; experiencing the geysirs errupt before your eyes; petting icelandic horses and taking a walk around Kerid volcanic crator lake... As a solo traveler, I am so glad that I drove the Golden Circle, instead of taking a tour! This allowed me to take my time to enjoy all the nuances of the variety of landscape, views, and the mass of open spaces. With the growing number of vehicles on this route, you must get creative when stopping to enjoy... More

We went the slow option, staying in the region for 8 nights in a cabin with a geo thermal hot tub. For us doing it this way made the trip perfect, getting around in a little 4x4 was a necessity as the weather, changes at a drop of a hat, sunny days and snowed in days, which just added to... More

Hire a car and hit that road. Fill with loads of warm drinks food and warm clothes. Make sure you wear good boots when walking. Plenty to see and admire on this routes from snow hills to geysers etc.. Cheaper if you do by car

Having never been to Iceland before, it seemed like one had to do the Golden Circle. So many of the extraordinary geological sights are on this route. Not to mention the site of the first parliament in the world. But I knew it would be heavily traveled. But in March? Maybe not. But even in March it is filled with... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jakob. He was ever so polite and courteous, even when people ran a few minutes late. He'd always say "with patience and a smile". I never felt rushed, unlike the Southern coast your by Grey Line. He also shared some personal stories and humor historical stories, which we enjoyed. It was a bit disconcerting to... More

We did the golden circle tour on the second day of our city break with the Gray Line bus company who were fantastic. The views and the sight seeing stops were incredible. A definite must do when in Iceland. Our tour guide was fantastic and everything went as planned. I would recommend Gray Line as a brilliant company to do... More

Git but not the best of Iceland, Thingvellir can maybe be avoided and Gullfoss is pretty cool. The geysers are a must.

Many great sights along the way, but also full of tourists and tour buses as it's close to Reykjavik and the "must see" of Iceland. If you want to avoid the crowds be a (very) early bird. In our experience tour buses tend to appear around 9.30-10 am. Definitely visit Thingvellir, Geysir/Strokkur and Reykjadalur (if hiking is no obstacle).
