We enjoyed our weekend at Thomson Causeway with our popup. We stayed at site 41. Although I would have liked the pad to be a little longer, it was still a nice site. Not a lot of privacy, but being right on the water was great. Definitely need bugspray, but my boys LOVED catching frogs along the rocks. Bathrooms are a short walk from this site and were clean. Water pump was also a short walk. We enjoyed bike riding around the campsite. There is a longer bike path that will take you to Clinton. We bought firewood right outside the park for $3 a pallet. We will definitely add Thomson to our list to return for our next trip. I made note that I would love to reserve site 60 or 69… great views of the Mississippi… I assume these are the most sought after sites.

This campground is fantastic! Very clean, peaceful & beautiful. During the day, I'd heard a couple of trains in the distance, but nothing bothersome. I brought my dog and camper for a few nights here. My site is on the small tributary of the Mississippi river, and my view is incredible. The waterway has water lilies, cranes, redwing black birds, turtles, fish and so much more. My site is a level paved electric site for only $20/night and I'd reserved online. There are walking trails nearby, Thomson townsite is just outside the park gates, so super convenient. The park rangers and camp hosts have been very friendly. I will definitely return!

We stayed at the park recently on a Thursday. Most sights are concrete and level. It was very easy to back up on the sight. Well maintained and the view of the river was excellent. You should bring bikes to ride in the park. Fishing is also a few steps from your camp. Water was not at each sight. Electric was easy to access. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

This is a lovely and secluded area on the Mississippi River. Widest point of the Mississippi. Eagles can be seen here too.

Nice clean campground with beautiful views of the Mississippi river ! Riverfront sites are a bit breezy since the river is 3 miles wide here, but offer spectacular views. Golfed at the Sandburr Resort which was much better and much cheaper then The Palisades (don’t go here).
