I wanted to visit this museum as it has is the place where my aunties clothes are on display along with all the others who were killed by the British soldiers in July 1958 and I was born in August of that year an emotional visit so much history so much bloodshed during those times innocent people of Cyprus caught in the crossfire. Interesting and emotional.

Have lived in the U.K. for over 30 years but unaware of the Brits involvement with Cyprus. Must confess it was rather shocking to find out what Brits did here. Guess this can happen when a country wants to cling on to land which does not belong to them. Bloodshed and torture,

it is a small museum with lots of information about the Cypriots martyrs that felt facing the british colonization.
they put a picture for every martyrs with when he was born, the name of his father, mother, brothers and when he was killed and where with the dates and details of his operation.
as well, you can see lots of weapon, military clothing and accessories that were used during the Liberation.
nice free place to visit for about 10 to 15 minutes.

While visiting the Monastery of the Holy Cross in Omodos, I came across the hall used for the housing of the National Struggle Museum.

I had no idea that such significant museum is housed out here and that I would be moved so much with its interesting exhibits and stories behind the heroes.

It is a museum that certainly should not to be missed.

HISTORY: The museum stands to present the contribution of Omodos to the national struggles since 1960 when a group of inhabitants had the concept for its creation.

The national liberation struggle of Cyprus against the British colonial administration, known as the EOKA struggle, started on the 1st of April 1955 and ended with the Zurich -- London agreements in February of 1959.

The Struggle of EOKA is the culmination of long-standing struggles on behalf of the People of Cyprus in order to conquer their freedom.

Omodos was always present in all of the struggles for the freedom of Cyprus. Its contribution dates back to the first quarter of the previous century, while the price paid was heavy. Arrests, imprisonment, the blowing up of a hide-out, and other catastrophes.

With Church Steward Dositheos, from the Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross in Omodos, as the head figure, the inhabitants actively participated in the Greek revolution. Omodos's inhabitants also actively participated in the two World Wars, as well as in the national liberation struggle of EOKA 1955 -- 1959.

This is a house that was used as a hide out in the struggle for liberation. If you have an interest in the history of Cyprus it’s well worth the visit.
