Keannert is a community gem

We attended the Nutcracker at Krannert in December 2015. The combination of atmosphere and performance is stunning.

Really wonderful hall experience - arrive a little early for a pre-program drink, and enjoy the performance. They symphony in particular has interesting programming!

We enjoyed a look behind the scenes of Krannert Center. 4 stages, huge underground operation, props, workshops, etc. quite interesting, Univ of Ill can call itself lucky for having been given such a significant operation. kind of lots is possible and it appears its fully utilized, congrats to the artists.

The Great Hall in the Krannert Center is nationally known for it's marvelous acoustic. During the Symphony Hall renovation, Chicago Symphony used to come down here to do their recordings as well. Every year, Krannert Center hosts concerts by world's leading performers.

Although my wife & I have enjoyed several terrific performances at the Krannert Center, we never knew what things looked like beyond the public area. We recently learned that the staff at Krannert offers a free tour of the facility most weekdays at 3pm. We were in the area yesterday and enjoyed a very well presented look "backstage." We were... The outside is ugly, but the inside is a work of art. Privately financed every detail carefully planned from imported marble and teak to the four theater spaces each for a specific type of performance. If you take a tour you also get to see the shops underneath, including the wood shop and sewing room.

Great shows in the small theatre. Outstanding unique gift shop, one of my favorites, easy parking underground. Often there are small mystical groups and wine tastings on Fridays. Just a cool place

I walked in with a friend on a whim - there was a sign out front proclaiming that it was "Day of the Drums." We saw a fantastic band, sat for a while in their comfortably segmented open space, and browsed the display for their current production, all for free! Can't complain there. Modern architecture lovers would enjoy the layout... More
