Nice walk

You can walk through the woods (actually, Busey Woods) or look through the displays. It's a pleasant place to go and family friendly.

I walked through the wooden boardwalk, across from the cemetery. It was a quiet, peaceful fall day. Nice place.

So nice to see art work which is constantly changing with the seasons in the hallway. Lots of stuff to look at in the Gift Shop and in the discovery museum room. Turtles, snakes, a couple of owls. A great bird viewing room with microphone when it is cold.

The nature center is adjacent to Crystal Lake Park, and to Busey Woods. The center itself is not much to write home about, although they do have a small gift shop and offer restrooms if you're going for a hike during their business hours. They also host meetings and classes, which makes the place a valuable community asset.

Ok its winter, but its quiet and you can get a nice day out walking through the woods at the back of the nature center. Also check out the glass cases around the walls inside, snkes and other things to look at. Great meeting rooms you can hire also. All in all a hidden gem in Urbana!!

I am a mentor. I took my mentee to Anita Purves Nature center and she, and myself, loved it. They have many "hands on" experiences with drawers packed with different natural items. There are even interactive videos to learn from. We learned a few things. They had 3 owls in a cage (that they rescued). An actual beehive too! Without... More

I really enjoyed looking over the displays. They even have some screech owls! The hands on area for kids looked fun as well. I plan to bring my granddaughter back here so she can see the puppets and displays they have on hand. They also have a small gift shop.

An inspiring place for nature lovers from tiny tots to elderly folks. Bird walks on Sundays in spring, seasonal nature walks and much more. Above all, a free Urbana Park district facility maintained with great care. Not to be missed during your visit to the Chamapaign-Urbana area.
