Today, we marvel as we stroll the hallways and parlors and gardens of Victorian mansions, marble monuments to the Gilded Age. San Simeon, William Randolph Heart's castle in California, is most noteworthy. Two others that immediately come to mind are George Vanderbilt's Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, and Henry Flagler's Whitehall in Palm Beach, Florida. And Marble House in Newport,... More

“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me." - F. Scott Fitzgerald The Cuneo Mansion is a monument to different. While the building itself is historic and houses an interesting collection of furniture and art, even more interesting were the two families who made it home. Samuel Insull, who built the house way... More

My first visit to Cuneo mansion and gardens. It's been closed for the last two years for ongoing renovations. Loyola University has done a superb job. You won't notice most of the $7 million they've spent renovating, but that's why this place is so special. They've restored most of the old roof and foundation, and replaced windows on the second... This is a beautiful mansion with gardens, lakes and buildings. The mansion also hosts Loyola students for their extra classes. Entry to the mansion is through a guarded gate. It is next to the Mall

Went here for a wedding and the grounds were lovely! However, I understand this has been sold to Loyola University so I am not sure it will be open to the public anymore

Invited here for a private work event. The mansion itself is beautiful. Roped off rooms but could view the amazing period antiques. Inside event during the winter, so unable to see the grounds or gardens. Seemed like it would be a pretty place in the summer or for a wedding.

The Cuneo Foundation donated this wonderful Great Gatsby Roaring 20s attraction to Loyola University. In July of 2015, I asked them by phone why no one posted on their website that they were "closed for renovations". "Good idea" was the reply. Next I read in the Chicago Trib that Loyola wants to build a 100+ home subdivision. If they ever... More

I was bummed. We could not get on to the grounds because it was closed for a private party. The website is a general website to Lake County and this location is not listed.
