I have been going here ever since I moved to Winfield back in 1992 and I keep forgetting it is only a few miles from my house. I have had picnics, cookouts, get togethers and just throwing balls or catching frisbees many times years ago but not as of late. I love to take my daughter or go by myself... More

We love to canoe or kayak at Blackwell. There is also excellent fishing and hiking. Walking, running and biking are excellent.

Occasion: 4 adults (36-45 yrs.) and 5 children (11-12 yrs. old) Overall: Pleasantly surprised to find this nature oasis in the middle of a suburb. Feels like real camping with the convenience of being 35-45 minutes from the city. There is a little something for everyone at this forest preserve. Campsites: Most of the campsites have a lot of grass... More

I went there twice already, it's a serene place where you can just lie down on the grass, experience the silence and the chirping of the birds and crickets. There's boating experience too.

Been here multiple times with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Always a great campout with plenty of hiking.

This is a lovely Forest Preserve, and just a couple of miles from home, it's quite and relaxing. There are plenty of shelters with seating and some have electrical outlets and a few have views of the lake.

Had a pleasant family outing, doing some fishing, and rented a couple of kayaks for fun. Lake water pretty clear, and kids had fun catching panfish along shoreline

We often visit Blackwell for camping, picnics and hiking. They even offer archery. The kids bring their soccer balls, I'll run up the hill for exercises. This is one of the best Preserves in DuPage county. If you need to book a shelter for a group, contact the park district. We gather here for Mother's Day, and our annual South... More

This forest preserve is 5 minutes down the road from me and offers a variety of outdoor activities. Camping, fishing, hiking, biking, boating and in the Winter tubing on the big tube hill! Plenty to keep you busy year round!

This forest preserve is well kept. Trails can used for biking and hiking, which we have done on several occasions. You can also rent (or use you ) row boats and kayaks. Only problem we ever encountered was that they gave us 2 different length oars, which made rowing difficult. I should have noticed it before we started. We live... More
