The Ruthmere Mansion is a tour de force of design, craftsmanship and materials well worth the guided tour. The surround shower in the master bathroom was particularly attractive and decadent to a visitor from California. Most surprising was seeing what may be one of the last of the Choralcelo consoles made. Apparently only about 100 were produced and production ended... More

This is such a cool place to see weather you are into architecture or history. It amazes me that back when this was built people had so much talent. Pay for the guided tour i've been thru the self guided and guided and you will enjoy youself and learn tons more if you donate to the volonteers that help run... More

I have had the pleasure of touring many historic mansions and this is among the finest. The home is truly lovely with much book matched mahogany woodwork. The carpets and many of the draperies and wall coverings are original to the house. Our guide was thoroughly familiar with the house and it's place in local history. The grounds are not... More

We happened upon the mansion and saw it was open for a tour. We were met by a lovely young woman who became our tour guide. The tour started with a brief movie of the history of the property which was very interesting. Then we toured the house, which is just beautiful. The guide was very friendly and really knew... More

It was a lovely tour with so much local history. The home is much larger than it appears from the outside. It's s must see!

The home was interesting particularly because families really lived in this home and made it suit their style of entertaining and daily living. The short movie in the beginning gave good background to the lives of the owners. Some of the inventions used and the artistry of the materials - woodwork, plaster work, wall coverings and draperies were interesting. Don't... More

This mansion is just breathtaking. The furnishings if not original are from the time period associated with this home. It is in excellent condition and just stunning.. Our tour guide was wonderful and did a great job providing the history and fun facts about the home and families that have lived here. There are steps associated with this tour..if this... More

Loved this home tour. From our first step inside we knew we were in for an amazing tour. This home is magnificent. Our tour guide was very professional and informative, giving us lots of history and insight into what it was like to live here at the turn of the century. The rooms have been maintained beautifully and it was... More

Beautiful Mansion that is a part of the history of Elkhart. The architecture was absolutely outstanding on the outside. Regret not touring the inside, but was amazed at the outside. The Quilt Garden was an added touch and all of it takes you back to a very historic time in history. Truly amazed and it was across from the river.
