This is a very good, focused museum describing the history of firefighting in Fort Wayne. It displays many of their old pieces of equipment, all kept in excellent shape. Of special interest is the display about the fire department's role in managing iron lungs during the early 1950's when polio was a national concern.
It's not so big you can't get your head around it but it is entertaining and educational for an hour or more.

Something different. Neat to see how fire trucks and emergency equipment use to look. Had an iron Lung on display and cool video informing you how it works. Wish could sit or go in one fire truck. Very clean and well put together. Unfortunately man working front desk was way too busy chit chatting with a family entire time so couldn’t ask questions. I’d definitely check this out

This museum is curated and administered by firefighters -- in addition to the wonderful historical equipment, they run safety programs. They also have a small cafe on the top floor which is a real treat.

As a firefighter I found this museum very nice. The history of the fire service in Fort Wayne and the fire that consumed the Catholic Church is very interesting.

I love this museum in downtown Ft Wayne! The old firetrucks gleam and are displayed so people can view them up close and personal! I esp. am intrigued by the iron lung that used to be carried on trucks for polio victims. Upstairs they provide educational area to teach kids about fire safety. High recommended for kids.

We really enjoyed this museum. My grandson's liked seeing all the old fire trucks and equipment. It is a small museum but has a nice collection of exhibits and the volunteer was really informative.

Volunteers have made this fire museum first rate. Lots of interesting historical photographs decorate the walls. Lots of small items and memorabilia. Several nicely restored Ft. Wayne fire trucks are on display. Especially interesting is a wonderful 1953 Cadillac ambulance, the likes of which I've never seen before. Great place!
