My Mensa group meets twice a month in the Double Eagle Cafe for lunch, which has never failed to please me. The quiche is always tasty and the salad bar is a generous good deal. One afternoon we stayed on after lunch to take the free tour of the palatial rooms. They are really something to see and the guide... More

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is the seat of the Masonic Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. Tours are offered Tuesday through Friday with the exception of certain dates when it is used for the Masonic purposes for which it was erected. The building houses a library, a large auditorium with a pipe organ, a carillon, a ballroom, a banquet room for... More

I think this is one of the most photographed structures in downtown Indy. The design has a lot of character and the materials used is impressive. The interior is classic gentleman's club: wood panel, leather, and cigar room,

My son and I recently visited Indianapolis. We did not get to tour the inside of the Cathedral but the outside and grounds are beautiful. Also, the beautiful bells that chime are amazing to hear.

The Scottish Rite Cathedral occupies a grand location on Meridian Street. Not just is this a very large cathedral, but it reminded me of my many European Trips and visiting the massive Cathedrals of Europe. I did not have time on this trip to enter the Scottish Rite Cathedral but I will make it a point on my return to... More

The Scottish Rite Cathedral has a limited-menu, no frills cafeteria (Double Eagle Cafe). Daily choice of a soup, 2-3 entrees, 2-veggetable choices, sandwiches and wraps, salad bar and some deserts. Prices are very reasonable. Not gourmet dining but serviceable and fresh.

An interesting tour and pleasant tour guide. The building is incredibly beautiful. The facts of the building and how it was built was very engaging.

After seeing the beautiful building from the outside, my husband and I stopped in for a quick look to see the inside. The receptionist quickly added us to the start of a tour. We thought it would take a quick half hour and before we knew it, we spent about 90 minutes exploring the building with our guide and Master... More

Learned a lot about the Masons. The building was beautiful and the stain glass Windows were amazing. Also the theater and ballroom were worth seeing. Be sure to pick up a brochure that helps explain the building. You can only go through it with a guide so be sure to go during those hours.
