We have walked the central canal many times and it never has disappointed us. Our out of town guests love it. Along the south end of the canal, you have great city views. It's really too bad that the city allowed an apt/condo building to be built that obstructs the view of the city from the north end. Bad city... More

A beautiful place to walk downtown, or paddle boat, or bicycles built for a crowd. Amazing views. A great place to go for a date especially if you are trying to be more active.

We used to live in Indy and downtown was one place we visited often because there is hardly any traffic there. The canal is one place you can take a long walk and feel peaceful. Very nice when the weather is nice.

What I know about this is from my walk with my beautiful wife. It is a mix of all walks of life all Races color and Creeds getting along enjoying a beautiful scenic area. We'll give this a thousand percent over and over and over my seal of approval.

We chose to stay in a hotel right on the Canal (Residence Inn Downtown Indianapolis-Canal North). It's basically just a wide walkway kept pretty busy by walkers, joggers, gondolas, some bicycles, and occasionally a Segway tour. There are also little boats to rent if you'd like to actually get on the water. The great thing about this is there are... More

I highly recommend the canal when visiting, it's very relaxing and romantic no matter if you visit in the summer or winter. I love walking the canal at night the lights from the city reflecting off the water is beautiful.

A free activity. Walk along the canal. Get some city pictures. It is 1 mile long in total length. It is just a few block from the downtown center monument. Not a lot to see in this city in my opinion, but this is one place to visit.

The Canal is a wonderful place to spend any amount of time, when it is tolerable to be outside. The walk around the Canal is always a great time, and kids love it too because they get to be outside downtown, and there are ducks that can be fed...so bring some bread, but be careful - they tend to swarm... The canal is a great place to come to walk or bike in any season. I've come with family or friends in all seasons, though we spend more time walking in the warmer months. I most often come during the day, but a nighttime stroll has great ambience as well. One of my children took me out on a paddle... More
