Very nice and clean outlet , far more interested in selling there cheese products than showing keen and interested tourists how cheese is made.
Quite a good selection of cheese from the area , at prices that you tend to purchase very small quantities .
Prices are reasonable if you are earning your hard earned money in Switzerland.
For visitors from abroad it is a question should I just look at these lovely varieties of cheese or just ask for a tiny bit to try.
Suggest they publish times they demonstrate the making of the cheese.
Otherwise , do only sell your products .
Very poor advertisement for a
SCHAUKASEREI.
Thanks and kind regards

This cheese factory was much smaller than I expected, but I enjoyed it. You can see every step of the process in, literally, one big room. The explanations are available in several languages and the pictures and viewing are good.
Was disappointed that we had to PAY for the cheese tasting...well, our guide did. Wasn't must to it...compared to the chocolate factory, was fairly minor.
Did buy some cheese, and the best information actually came from our Bus Tour Guide!!!

I've seen better places to see how cheese is made. Most of the cheese they sell, however is great and really something to eat.
The other "specialized" products, most from a backery in Herisau are a desaster. "Birnenbrot" that only tastes like dry bread, "Anisbiberli" where you wonder why it does not taste like Anis etc. We really had a lot of these special stuff at high prices and got the full dissapointment.
So it's better if you buy stuff like this in other places, backeries in the area etc.

A fascinating place to visit, also sells interesting wooden items besides cheese - also gives a view on cheese making.
