Great place to go on a budget

If you like Brown County State Park but don't want to pay to enter, this is the place to go. Trails vary in length and difficulty; each are nice. Wife and I did the Low Gap trail. First half was very beautiful. Map says the trail was 10.1 miles but our GPS watches had us just over 11. Didn't matter,... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. Keep in mind it is a state Forest and Hunting is going on in the fall of the year. However this is a great place to hike, bike or just take in the fall colors. This area is in the hills of Indiana, many steep and demanding hiking trails. There is also many... More

Beautiful park. My family and I had a nice picnic in one of the many gorgeous spots. Thought it lacked info on where everything was... Trails, ect. Could use more signs or pamphlets.

A nice hike. It is labeled Tecumseh Trail everywhere and hardly ever labeld Shelter ROck Trail. The stones were too big to walk on comfortably on the first part of the fire road (western side), we went counterclockwise. Maybe start from the main loop on the east and do a down and back

I went to Morgan Monroe for a overnight backpacking trip. Don't really recommend mid summer for hiking or camping due to bugs and normal hot and humid weather. It is a beautiful place in the fall. The state forest is not as heavily travelled as State Parks, so you can find a little more solitude. Maps are available online or... More

My grandson and I hiked the Three Lakes Trail July 2016. We started off about 8:00am and did not finish until about 3:00pm. We did stop and spend some time looking through Stepp Cemetery which was really cool. We took it pretty slow and rested along the way and had lunch. The forest was extremely wet, hardly any place to... More

Great place to spend the day looking for some tasty Morel mushrooms, when in season! Many great paths and be careful that you don't get lost, it's easy to do! I live not far from the Forest so its a quick trip. If you are really courageous do some reading on the Stepp Cemetery located deep within, most fun alone... More

This spot is so peaceful and beautiful. Many trails to be hiked and picnic. Keep a eye open for all the wildlife you can see while out in the woods.
