The staff was very friendly and you could tell they were really proud of the museum and loved to talk about it. I don't like guided tours and they understood that and stayed near by, but close enough to answer the questions that I had. Wish it was in a prettier location, it was difficult to photograph.

It seems somewhat small and unassuming when you first pull up to it...but make no mistake...this "little" lighthouse has been a POWERHOUSE in its time and beyond! When you read the accounts of what the lightkeepers had to go through in winters and in outrageous storms to keep the lamps lit for the ships...you will never look at the waterways... More

We were searching for things to explore in the town. We saw this was to be open from 1 to 4. We found the place and were excited to see something to do in the winter time. Sadly as we approached we saw a closed sign. Would be nice to keep up to date if you are open or closed.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday 1 to 4 pm with a small admission fee, you take a self directed tour of the old lighthouse and can walk up to a viewing cap to see surrounding vistas.

By the way, the above photo is not the Old Light House Museum. The Museum is now land locked where once it was on the waters edge. Much of the lake has been filled in making way for a large yacht basin and a nuclear power plant. It has a rich local history in addition to being associated on the... More

Seen the lighthouse at the end of the long day and it was a nice way to end the day. Sunset was beautiful as we walked the pier.

We were staying at the Blue Chip during the week and caught the Museum open! We loved hearing about the ship wrecks off shore & the female light house keeper!

It's probably a nice place but to pay 7 bucks for "closer parking" so u dont have to walk that far to see the museum and take a picture of a lighthouse was a bummer. Since I was wondering my folks, I said forget the long walk. Heres a pic I took from the free parking lot where the coast... More
