Nice event center, I have never been there for a concert so I have no idea what that is like. I was only there for a social outing with my staff lady. And we were impressed. When we were there a local musical artist was there. I believe he had signed his name on the artist wall/dressing room. Very nice... More

There is a lot of Rock n Roll history in those walls. There are pictures of singing groups, from the 40's all the way to the present, that have performed there. Buddy Holley, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens played their last performance here before they lost their lives in a plane crash. These three people made a huge impact... More

The Surf is a very cool juxtaposition of a current business and a historic site. It certainly gives one pause to realize who has all been in that space and what happened there. We were lucky to be able to visit with Wayne who was more than cordial and knows everything about the Surf from first-hand experience - as a... More

The Surf has always been a favorite place to see top-rated musicians play. The dance floor is meticulously set up; the bar is great; and the staff is not only friendly and extremely competent but also careful to all the details. During the day when it's open, the Surf offers a glimpse into a great history of big bands, rock... More

This famous venue blew my mind. It was like walking into the past .I could almost see the young couples dancing to rock n roll music. The Surf Ballroom has thankfully kept most of its original fittings from the days of Buddy Holly and earlier. Everything was so interesting from the vintage decor, to the many many autographed photos of... More

Passing by Clear Lake, Iowa, we decided to stop and look at the Surf Ballroom on our way to the Buddy Holly crash site. We were delighted to find it open to the public. So we went in and were amazed to see all the memorabilia they have. The stuff dated back to the 40's and up. It was all... More

Over the years we have been to many events at the Surf. Each time the staff is more than friendly and helpful. No matter who is playing the tickets are usually affordable. Tickets are much less than you would pay at another venue where you would be packed in with over 10,000 more people. The Surf has a capacity of... More

Attended a ball room dance this time. Need to back to see all the things in its history. Did look around a little, but too busy dancing. Much to see and tours are offered.
