Lots of trails to explore and a good visitor center which explains the history of the area. Don't miss the bird watching area in the back of the visitor center.

Visited interpretive center. Relatively small but presented well about the area. Exhibits includes animals, birds, indians, original family farms, and lead mining. Gift shop area. Donations. Awesome views of the Mississippi River, trails that go on and on and are usually not very crowded. Many levels of difficulty for all ages. Fall is the best time to visit.

There is a lot of hiking to be had here, and lots of treasures to discover. The best part is looking over the Mississippi, with Dubuque in the background. It's a great way to start a Saturday in fall.

Yes. It is posted 'on leash', but many do not. When we walk with a dog, I call her to come when I see another person and leash her. She obeys so it is easy. Also, one should plan on cleaning up the dirty. Dogs love the area... More
