When we first pulled up and saw the size of the museum and the $10/person admission cost, we were wary. However, first impressions can be deceiving. The museum itself is filled with more artifacts than anyone can see, plus the back hangar has as many planes as can physically fit. But what impressed us the most was the people. Chris... More

I found this place interesting especially if you have interest in planes or war history. It was a bit much for admission especially for a place way off the beaten path.

A great place for all things do do with aviation and for history buffs! Amazing displays! You never new what impact your neighbors had on worldwide history. Lots of old planes and historic memorabilia from all eras! Great for all ages. They will get something prepared for a group of kids if you let them know in advance. Have fun!

I was driving the back roads of Iowa like I usually do in case I come across a place you don't do usually see on the interstate. I noticed on my Road Atlas an Aviation Museum and drove in there and was pleasantly surprised. I walked into this, so it seemed, a small museum at an airfield surrounded by cornfields.... More

I was traveling with friends across country, and since I am a rabid old Warbirds fan (I'm old and so are the planes...I'm also female), I pleaded to get to stop at this museum, which is a number of miles south of I-80, our direct line to California.. It is a small museum but has a TON of interesting memorabilia.... More

The IAMHF museum contains a large variety of interesting artifacts and articles about the surprising number of Iowans who have been involved in making aviation history starting in the mid-1800's, thru WWI, the barnstorming era, the first postal aviation routes, WWII, Korea, Vietnam to modern day space exploration. From the state's first gas-filled balloon flight in 1856, to the first... More

Very neat place to visit- I will bring my teenage son back to see it sometime. They gave a personalized tour with details about all the planes- several of them were one of a kind. I also liked the old uniforms and information about Iowa pilots displayed.

We love this museum and it keeps getting better every time we visit. LeighAnn is so knowledgeable and gives us a tour of each display and airplane. Besides vintage aircraft there is a display about Buddy Holly's plane crash, a woman pilot who eventually saved turtles along the gulf coast, and a wedding dress made from parachute material when silk...
