Taking us a step back into history, we enjoyed seeing the first capitol of Iowa. We enjoyed hearing how it was used until being restored to it's original purpose. It was educational and refreshed us in how our early legislature was run. Cost was by...More

Walked through entire museum. A time capsule from the 19th century. The legislative chambers with old furniture was a sight. A good hour or two can be spent here

This building is on the grounds of the University of Iowa. It's easily found by its golden dome, topped with flags. Legislative chambers are authentically furnished. Please take the time to view the four levels of the building. The staff provide helpful explanations.

There were no ramps at the old Ioma capitol building. So sad. Gonna go get some Culvers for lunch. Got Culvers, all in all, not a bad day.

They're redoing it right now, but it looks amazing! I didn't get the chance to go inside, but loved seeing the outside, very educational!

While I had walked by this historic building many times as a student, I finally saw the inside at the prompting of my adult son. It's a nice little museum of not only the early statehouse but also to other history.

It was nice to know the history, that this city was the capital once. It is one of the few cultural places to visit.
