The Englert is an Iowa City staple, attracting some big names to the community. I was here for Wu Man and the Shanghai Quartet the other night and was impressed as always. The sound quality was great and the staff were helpful and friendly. Drink prices are a little high but I suppose that's standard for such theaters. Check their... More

We saw the Irish musical group Gaelic Storm at the Englert Theatre. We knew the music was going to be great but the theatre itself was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly, from the doorman to the concession attendants. Sightlines were terrific. We sat in the top row of the balcony but could easily see everything that was happening on the... Watch out for seats 5 and 7 in the balcony. They are right behind the sound board with cramped legroom and distracting movement from the operator. Acoustics were poor too. Watched a Second City touring group, which was just ok. Stayed at the Sheraton and could walk there easily.

What a great venue for this amazing show. This was our first time and it was just lovely. The dancers, the costumes, and the stage were so professional. The live orchestra and children's choir were a bonus!

One of my favorite places to experience a concert. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The staff is great too.

Saw Rickie Lee Jones on July 31 with my bride. Very nice venue, excellent acoustics, comfortable seats and a feeling of intimacy. Really enjoyed it! Will be going back in October.

Our favorite place in Iowa City to see a show. It's small enough to be intimate, but large enough to be able to get tickets for a show. The arts scene in IC is flourishing, with top performers coming to the area on a regular basis. You have to keep yourself updated though, so much going on, you have to... More

The Englert survives on its reputation and the fact that it used to be a central part of Iowa City life. Since being rescued by a community effort it has become hit and miss, with some excellent acts attracted there (Hugh Laurie). and a lot of specific dross aimed at clique audiences. It puts on the usual Xmas stuff (Nutcracker)... More

Have been to the historical Englert many times for various types of entertainment. Love the venue! It is a beautiful building. I love that they have a nice selection of adult beverages available during intermission.
