I like to go visit Camp Dodge to see the tank in front and other US Army equipment parked around the camp. The museum is interesting and I enjoyed reading about heroes.

Excellent facility! Exhibits are informative and pay special attention to our Gold Star heroes. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the curator is extremely kmowlegable. In addition there is a meeting room which our BSMA use monthly. I would make two suggestions and they are to increase signage on the roads and increase parking.

We visit several times a year with our children. We love that it's free and rarely busy. Great to see the history of the Iowa National Guard. They are constantly adding to the museum. My kids always love looking out the real periscope and playing with the interactive things. If you visit when it's warm be sure to head outside... More

We recently visited that. It is located in Camp Dodge (hint - be sure to come in the south entrance. They will also want to see an ID such as a drivers license). It has artifacts and information about all the wars, dating back to when there were forts, and going to the most recent ones. It is not a... More

Good military museum. Covers most major conflicts and branches of service. Many weapons were not easily identified in the arms room area. Make sure to check out the sub periscope.

A very nice military museum with with all branches of service represented. Inside the exhibits are top notch. Outside there are over 12 vehicles will placed so you can take pictures of them from all sides. Most of the items outside are not labeled, but if you know your military hardware it should be easy to identify them. For me... More

We have lived in this area all our lives and have never been here. Decided to take some out of state friends here today. This place is outstanding. Interesting, well designed displays of Iowa military history from Civil War to present. Also a nice Iowa Highway Patrol display. The Curator asked if any of us had family from Iowa who... More

Iowa Gold Star Military Museum is fabulous. Go see it even if you are a local. There are few things to know and consider when visiting this museum. The words Gold Star in the name of the museum has meaning. In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson suggested the mother's of sons killed in combat wear a black band with a gold... More

What a great little museum!! I can't believe it has been right under our noses all these years and we just now discovered it! A fantastic little museum at Camp Dodge that honors Iowans that have served in wars. I would allow 1-3 hours depending on how much you want to read. Very interesting! We will definitely go back!!!
