We visited the museum, which is free, and came back the next morning for a guided walk of the neighborhood architecture for a small fee. Our docent was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the area is eye candy for those who love prairie style architecture.

Thanks for the wonderful review and for participating in our architectural walking tour! This is something we offer weekly from June-September because we are located in such a special neighborhood full of prairie style architecture.

A very nice museum for the size of Mason City. Probably the most popular exhibition is the famous puppets of Bill Bard that he made for the movie Sound of Music. There's also many beautiful exhibits of paintings and statues.

This isn't a large museum, but what they have is very eclectic and well displayed. The puppet display is fascinating and not what you normally see at your average art museum. There's also a room with a neat little fish pond and windows looking out...More
