Chef Hunter and the team are doing something really cool and special. They are only cooking and serving local ingredients grown or caught in the area (within 15 mins). So no lemon, lime, vanilla, etc… but they love the challenge of getting creative. You can tell they have amazing relationships with the farmers and folks they get their ingredients from. The wine and beer list were only Canadian too. Chef explained every dish with the wine pairings and stopped to chat with each table multiple times. There is only one service per night for a max of 27 people. Never been to a dinner with applause until this. Absolutely unforgettable!

Since my husband and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary we decided to splurge and go to The Table for the Chef's Table Experience. The whole experience lasts over 2 hours and is simply lovely. Seven courses with Chef Hunter explaining each course as they are served and coming around to each table to mingle/chat. Everything they make is made from local ingredients on PEI and all the wines they featured on the wine flight were all Canadian. Top notch staff and food. You won't leave here hungry, I was already feeling stuffed during the 5th course!

Taste the love for local ingredients fused with devotion to flavour.

Have you ever heard of fermenting ground beef for 4 months to created a liquid like soy sauce but so rich and beefy that it makes you swoon?
What about collecting the flowers from alder bushes in the spring, then drying and grinding them as a black pepper substitute?

These are two examples of the lengths the chefs are going to to make the menu as local as possible. And it tastes so so so good!

In comparison, Micheal Smith’s Fireworks is shooting for the same goal of local, but is more stylish, slick, and large scale. The Table is intimate, earnest and down home.
And simply one of the best meals I have ever tasted.

The menu completely changes every week, so I hope yours is as scrumptious as mine was!

The Table Culinary Studio is housed in a converted church. It is a single seating 7 course event. All dishes are made from 100% local ingredients. Only 27 guests can be accommodated. It was more like a show where there is a lot of interaction with the executive chef. Every week the menu changes based on what is available throughout PEI. The executive chef is Hunter Guindon, who is recognized as one of the up and coming chefs to watch in Canada. This was one of the best foodie experiences of my life and I will definitely go back.

Chef Hunter's presentation/explanation of the nights offerings was the highlight of the night. This was our 3rd visit to The Table Culinary Studio and it gets better each time. The skills the culinary team displays is second to none. Chef Hunter and Chef Alex are artists at their craft. The staff at The Table have designed a culinary experience that displays the incredible bounty of food available on the island. This is a destination that should not be overlooked. The beautiful open concept repurposed church creates a intimate atmosphere, but at the same time allows you to feel connected to the other guests through the dining experience. Thank you for another great evening.

Great very good local food and wine concept. High quality local ingredients.

Wine: naja - all Canadian wine - most whites a bit sour, the only one I liked was the dessert wine.

Missing with veggie courses: some home made bread.
Pasta was a bit to al dente. Overall food presentation very nice.

Kind service but not observing; forgets things, looks away and prefer to be behind kitchen counter; the chef does most of the work.

Old nice renovated church; but no atmosphere, bright lights, plastic separator, service rushes through the courses.

The owner is there but not interested in guests, focusing on tourists. Telling a story about being interactive, but is only on rushing a standard procedure.

Can’t recommend a visit for that price. Payed ca. 200+ for one person with drinks.

Unique dinning experience, great ambiance in this beautifully renovated Church. Food was exceptional, all PEI products prepared to perfection. If you like charcuterie boards as an appetizer .. this is the place for you, best one yet! All Island cheese, meats, homemade relish and sauces. Highly recommend the Table Culinary studio.

My husband and I went for a class and were amazed by the setting. We started off with yummy scones and coffee/tea. We then headed out to collect some veggies.

The class was fun and informative. The negative part was that we went an hour over the time we were supposed to. Also, even after sending an email we didn't receive any of the recipes promised

Could have been a home run, but the poor time management and lack of follow up left a bad taste in our mouth.

Okay, that is a rhetorical question. I found this place by reading some TripAdvisor forum comments.I was a little skeptical at first. An intimate gathering of 16 or so people farmhouse style in a converted church. Really? Was I up to eating with strangers in a communal setting?

You only live once. I called and as it turned out my preferred night had only two spots left. It was an omen so I immediately booked it even though I did not know what the menu was.

The next part of finding this place was, well, finding this place! We were staying in Charlottetown so it was about a 45 minute drive out into the midst of the island. As it turned out a converted church in the middle of nowhere is pretty easy to find.

When we walked in we were greeted with an offer of wine, cheese, oilves and assorted other goodies crafted by two of the students preparing that night's meal. A guitar was softly being played by a local musician. We were directed to the garden where herbs and vegetables were being grown for use in our meal.

Our group of 16 was made up of seven people from one family, five from another family and two couples. Everyone was from Canada except us. We, plus the other couple, stationed ourselves in the center of the table in order to be able to talk with everyone.

Our main course was roasted lamb, chicken and root vegetables. It was finished off with a beautiful cheesecake. Conversation ensued throughout the meal. By the end of the evening it really was like we were old friends. And we all shared one thing, a fabulous meal at The Table Culinary Studio.

A delightful place to take a cooking class. We learned how to make two types of bread. The instructor had prepped everything for us and since rising bread takes time, she also had predone some dough so we could braid it and bake it. We also made our own dough. In between the bread rising, they served a lovely soup lunch with bread! Also homemade cookies that we made. It's in a lovely old church filled with antiques and a pulpit too. They clearly enjoy what they are doing. They also serve dinners there which we didn't get to partake in die to scheduling. But I would assume you must reserve far in advance. It's a set menu and price and includes wine. They only use fresh local products within a 10 mile radius. Again, we didn't stay for that but based on the location, the chef, the ambience and the delightful couple that owns it, I would imagine it would be most wonderdul. Taking this 2.5 hour class was a great way to enjoy PEI outside of travelling around and seeing sites.
