Girls weekend

Enjoyed this bridge. After reading the story it spooked us. So when walking over the bridge we thought we heard a noice. Gift shop was closed though.

Basically is a old bridge that the preserved. Nothing spectacular. Claim to fame is one of the Bridges of Madison County movie, which was terrible so doesn't help it much. Is one of several covered bridges in the area. Not really worth a trip there southwest part of Iowa. Nothing there, was just passing through so stopped. It's good they... More

The book and movie made these bridges famous. At one time there were dozens of bridges built here in the late 1800's. The six remaining were relocated (except for one) all restored with loving care and attention to detail. Can you even imagine moving a bridge??? Winterset, Iowa is a great base. Allow a day or two if you want... More

My wife and i love seeing the old covered bridges of America when we visit from England. To see the Bridges of Madison County was a long held ambition which we now have completed. We loved it.

We made it to about 3 of the covered bridges, including this one. Good reason to go back. All the bridges we saw are down gravel roads.

(Unfortunately, I was traveling alone.) This is a beautiful area of water access for kayakers and canoers. And there was a guest building/lodge? there, though it was not open so... More

We had a good time visiting this bridge. The posted route from Winterset takes longer than just cutting through the country. They have done a good job of maintaining the bridge.

Beautiful bridge and cute gift shop. Worth the view and tasting wine and samples in the gift shop. Adorable dog outside that loves people and is so quiet and nice
